In addition to our excellent Scoutmasters, our adults and parents are very active in the Troop. Although we are a boy-led troop, adults are needed for financial matters, to attend campouts, and to provide mentoring and guidance to the Scouts.
Troop 335 is a member of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Our Troop is located within the Signal Hill District and a member of the Pathway to Adventure Council. Troop 335 has been chartered by the All Saints Lutheran Church in Palatine, IL since 1978.
Youth Protection training is an online training course that is required for all Boy Scouts of America (BSA) registered volunteers and must be taken every two years. If you are not yet a registered BSA member, you may still take the course and link your member ID after you receiving it. Upon completion, you may also print a certificate of completion to the Troop leader for processing at our local council.
A variety of adult leadership training opportunities are available both online and through our local council.
Weekly Boy-Led Troop Meetings are typically held every Monday at 7pm at 630 South Quentin Road, Palatine, Illinois, 60067. Adults may attend these meetings, but typically do not participate in the boy-led activities.
Monthly Campouts and Community Service Events will have times and locations that vary depending on the event. All of the campouts and events are boy-led, but some adults will be available for emergencies or assistance if needed. Parents are not required to attend all campouts but they're always welcome to attend. All adults are required to sleep/camp in a separate area than the boys. (By the way, our Scouts cook G-R-E-A-T meals!).
Monthly Troop 335 Committee Meetings are typically held the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm at 630 South Quentin Road, Palatine, Illinois, 60067. All adults within the Troop are encouraged to attend in order to discuss finances, fundraisers, advancements, and other topics.
Monthly Boy Scout Roundtable Meetings and Order of the Arrow (OA) Chapter meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month beginning at 7:30pm. Adult Leaders typically attend Roundtable meetings, but all adults are welcome to attend (Note: the applicable material from this meeting is usually shared with other adults within the Troop at the Monthly Troop 335 Committee Meeting)
Many hands make light work! We expect all parents will want to volunteer to take some active role within the Troop. Every parent and member within the Troop is a volunteer, and it takes some effort from ALL of the parents and adults to create a fantastic and memorable scouting experience for these young men in their development of character, citizenship and personal fitness.
